Sam is in a grumpy mood, as he dishes out his report to his secretary, Effie Perine. A client enters, who wants to redecorate, and make improvements to the office. The actor, Fritz, doesn’t impress Sam much. What does he propose anyway, how can he help Sam? The only redeeming quality is the promise of a job, guarding a diamond. All Sam has to do is wear a rabbit suit.
At the mansion on the hill, Flopsy and Mopsy, alias Sam and Fritz, mingle at the costume party. Though he shouldn’t be, Sam recognizes that he has been made as a detective. Meanwhile, Fritz is eating up the attention from the costumed damsels. Of course, when the time comes for awarding the prize, and presenting the jewels, they are missing from the safe. Besides the Flopsie, and Mopsie, the party had also had a Cottontail. One who had also absconded with the jewels, after knocking the Pickle King on the hed.
The investigation begins in earnest as Sam tries to figure who was where, when they were there, and where the jewels might have been hidden in some of the skimpy costumes. The Pickle King, Mr Montague, is tired of being rich, tired of the jewels and trappings. He would rather the jewels not be found. Twists to the tale are yet to be told, but Sam manages to unravel the mess, and wraps up his report.
