Though Mr. Boynton is friendly enough for most folks, he’s just not friendly enough towards our favorite English teacher, Connie Brooks. She talks with Mrs. Davis about ways to turn up the heat with the relationship. The forgetful landlady gets sidetracked when Mr. Boynton pops in for a surprise visit. That crazy old Boynton just pays too much attention to animals.
Since Connie is turned down on a walk to school with her bashful biologist, she has to settle for a car ride with the love struck Walter Denton. He tells how he and harriot have fights, just so they can make up. Inspired, Connie plans to draw Boynton into a fight at her lunch date, so they might enjoy the making up afterwards.
Before the battle of the century can begin, Connie is stopped by Mr Conklin. He wants to take all measures he can to keep his daughter away from Walter. Doesn’t the stodgy old principle understand the concept of fighting and making up? Maybe more than he’s letting on.
Connie does her best to pick her fight with Boynton, but is he too oblivious, or just too naive to get his feathers ruffled? All she gets out of him is a handful of jelly beans. Meanwhile, Mr Conklin had jumped on the argument bandwagon, and picked a fight with his wife. It seems to have backfired on him as well and he seeks Connies help.
The upset Conklin has to leave and try to catch her at the train station. Mrs. Conklin later phones the school, and when the plot is in the open, more arguments kick off.
Will the Conklins get back together? Will Boynton finally get hot and fight back with Connie? With all the riled up emotions, will there be any happy endings, and making up? Has Connie created a bigger mess than she meant?
Classic one liners, and reactions rule the day. Will Connie finally get the physical attention she craes from Boynton? Let’s just say that the ending has her puckered up, and waiting in anticipation.
