Imagine death as a human being, a benefit, and benefactor for the human race. Why do people hate him so? In this story, Death takes a few days off, and comes to earth, in the guise of a royal figure, to find out.
The story opens with a young couple driving recklessly in a car, and they crash it. Though the damage is bad, they both survive without a scratch. The father of the young man seems nonchalant and forgiving about the crash, and recounts a crash of his own that resulted in no casualties. There’s a scream, and when the accident prone family rush to see, they learn of another close brush with death. In each case, a description of a shadowy figure is reported, and now Death makes his appearance to the father, and Baron.
Death shares that he is not on his usual mission, but plans to take his three day holiday. Death asks the Baron to take him in as a guest for three days to learn why people fear him. The Baron is the only one who knows the secret of the Prince as he makes the rounds, meeting people. He is quite charming, and recieves the same politeness in return. His holiday has a great beginning.
Death hobnobs with the family of the Baron, gets in good with the ladies, as he talks about mythological things. He is particularly smitten by a special someone, but needs to find a person who is not afraid of his true nature. Will it be the Baron’s daughter? What will the Baron have to say about that?
As Death enjoys his luck at the casino, reports of world tragedies come in that have a 100% survivor rate from earthquakes, and other natural disasters. Meanwhile the young couple from the car crash in the beginning share a few tender moments. It sounds like the gal just might be showing signs that she’s dissatisfied with the relationship. Her starry eyed response makes it sound like she feels fate pulling her toward an unknown mystery man. Could it be, you know who?
Here’s his big chance. The Prince, Death, puts the moves on the gal, and she is as smitten with him as he is for her. The rest of the family is worried, and alarmed, but don’t fully understand why. Will the Baron spill the beans on the secret? What will happen if he does? Death has found love, and with the last few moments of his holiday fast approaching, what will he do?
Death still has no answer as to why men fear him, although it is hinted at. Men fear the unknown. If he takes the girl as his bride, will it mean her death to go with him, or will he lose her? Will she be courageous enough to face death, and become the bride of the Prince? Has Death finally found someone who isn’t afraid of him? Just listen in to see how the drama plays out.
