Lum and Abner – Printing Handbills. 460219

Chet Lauck and Norris Goff wearing a suit and tie smiling at the camera. Sitting in front of a radio microphone, one holding a script and the other adjusting his glasses -

Using their old printing press found in the feed room, the gents start their own mudslinging campaign to respond to Squire’s Liberal Conservative party. . Lum is claiming that Ezra Seastrunk has a gambling problem. Is it true? Lum is basing it on an event that happened over 30 years ago. Ezra had been in the wrong place while a gambling raid was going down, and got caught up in it. Though grandpap was in support of Abner on his partyline rally, he has changed sides.

Lum is pleased with the results the handbills are bringing. Secrets from the distant past of his competition have their wives all riled up. Abner is pleased to hear the opposing candidates are having to deal with woman trouble in the home, on top of the campain issues.

When the fire alarm rings, Lum picks up to listen in to the party line chatter. After defending himself on his past gambling, Ezra begins his campaign promises. Can Abner compete with having cement sidewalks, Street lights, and more? Abner wants to do one better. How about paving the sidewalks in gold? Lum suggests paving the streets, and maybe the town will name streets for them. Their brainstormed ideas are shot down by the ones that Ezra keeps mmaking.
