Lum and Abner – Abner Becomes More Suspicious. 460117

Chet Lauck and Norris Goff wearing a suit and tie smiling at the camera. Sitting in front of a radio microphone, one holding a script and the other adjusting his glasses -

Squire Skimp answers his phone in his insurance office and is surprised to hear from Lum about thinking Abner is out to kill him. He tries to warn Lum not to do anything rash. Can Lum just quit worrying about it?

Elsewhere, in the store, Abner speaks to Grandpap over the telephone. He tells Grandpap how Lum wanted him to stay and work until midnight, like in that murder mystery Lum was reading the other day. He is visited by Mr. Whitney, the gas station owner from a few episodes back. He inquires about Lum, but he hasn’t shown up for work today. The Straight talking man doesn’t want to waste time in conversation, but he spends a lot of time in conversation telling Abner about his business. When he has something to say, he says it. But what does he want to ask about the reward?

He just dropped in to tell Abner that he doesn’t want a penny of their reward money. Don’t try to push it off on him, because he doesn’t want it, and he won’t take it. He’s content just to do business with his gas station. If folks find out he has money, they might want him to carry other lines of gas other than ethyl. The old Gent makes it clear he doesn’t want to change his life. He’s healthy because he walks everywhere. He could lift a cow if he wanted to.

He complains about all the bad news in the newspaper, and it’s all because of money. Men trying to murder their partners! And why? It’s all because of money. With all the suspicions running high, and both Lum and Abner now armed, or will this end up?
