With the pirates approaching the Black Shark, Jack and his friends secure the uranium. Uncle Jim listens to Jacks’s plan to evade the pirates by navigating the shallow waters of the reef. The idea is to lure the faster moving Black Shark over the reef, and run it aground.
The guys work hard to layout buoys and get into position. Betty worries that they can outmaneuver the pirates, surely they know the reef is there. How will the Spindrift do in retracing the safe channel in the reef?
The sea is calm enough, so nobody should be hurt if the ship runs aground. The trap is begun, and the pirates close in. They see the reef, but too late. The Black Shark’s sailing days are over, but the pirates can still use their lifeboats to get to safety. Now it’s off to find the missing professor Lorrie.
