Audio is muffled, and soft, but otherwise clear. Though meatless Tuesdays reigned along with rationing, Fibber rants on his insistence at being served at the butcher shop. There’s also a reference to “Dreaming Outloud,” the film that friends of the show, Lum and Abner, made and was being released around this same time. Molly changes the subject, and learns about Fibber’s libraary book. Abigail Uppington enters with news, can the McGee’s guess what she has done? Not even close. She shares the basic conditions required to join the Women’s Army Corps. As Fibber pokes a lttle fun at the WAC’s, Molly fercely defends them, deflating Fibbers myths. Horatio K Boomer makes a return to the show after a long absence. Is he a reformed character? The voice characterization by Bill Thompson is in the vain of that loveable huckster, WC Fields. Billy Mills plays a nice dance tune to move the show along.
With all the talk of going into the WAC’s, Fibbber is worried that Molly may be getting ideas about joining up too. Harlowe Wilcox enters to put his own spin on the WAC’s… or is that the wax? That would be too easy of a pun. Instead, Harlowe puts together his own spoof pitches of famous radio show opening themes of the day.
Molly rushes out, leaving Fibber to worry about his wife going off to war. Teeny visits, but Fibber’s French confuses her. The Kingsmen sing, Would You Rather Be a Private than a Colonel in the Army.
At the recruiting office, the gals talk to the lady officer about enlisting. We learn even more about specific needs the WAC[s need from qualified women. Back home, Fibber gets visited by Wallace Wimple, who is surprised to see Fibber alomne, the house in a mess, and worryhing he would be a draft widow. Molly saves the day, and returns home. Would Sweetie Face ever consider enlisting?
