Holiday plans on Christmas Island have been delayed for the Scarlet Queen. Just two days before Christmas the crew has the Christmas spirit as the decorations go up. A man in a white linen suit hails along side in his Chinese junk and Philip and Red are invited aboard. They are treated to oriental men bearing gifts, a baby, and a young mother.
Back aboard the Scarlet Queen, carney is surprised to find the mother and baby onboard his ship. Eager to escape, she tells her story, and hope that Philip and Red can help her keep her baby safe from being sold to a religious cult.
Why do men with guns want the baby? What gives Philip the right to stand in the gap and not release the baby? Surrounded by rival bidders for the baby, Carney has a plan to leave the other boats behind as he makes a dash to escape, but will it work?
Suspecting that illegal motive is behind the deal, Carny pulls off a bluff. With tensions over, Philip describes the Christmas party had on the deck of the Scarlet Queen, complete with Carols and a touching epilog.
