Brit rides into town, and marvels to himself about the lack of people. When he does encounter anybody, they are all shut in, and paranoid. A story of murder, and the well known outlaw Stacey, who is to come and terrorize the town reaches our hero.
Brit takes in the details offered to him, and weighs the situation with a level head. The woman at the boarding house is worried that with the sheriff and posse all riding and patrolling in hope of fending off the outlaw, it has left the town vulnerable. Every able bodied man from boys to the aged are all on duty, patrolling the range, leaving only the womenfolk.
The plot thickens when a suspicious man rides into town, and fits the description on the wanted posters. To settle everyone’s nerves, Brit goes to confront the man. Plenty of conclusions are jumped at, hints are dropped, and the facts skirted around. Is the man really Stacey? What exactly is his business in town?
Though he has never seen Stacey, Brit has his doubts that this stranger is the well known outlaw. Circumstantial evidence abounds. Time passes, the posse returns, and no sign of violence or crime as shown itself. It seems to me that if the man were the infamous outlaw, he would have robbed and looted the town while the men were gon. By waiting, I’d say it’s a safe bet that he is just a drifting stranger.
Brit takes a stand to defend the man, and when the possey comes to take him by force, Brit gets the story out of the stranger. He is just a Drummer. Why does the man have the large sum of money on his possession? Money that has the marked bands of the bank that was robbed?
The truth is revealed in the end, so I won’t spoil it if you don’t already know. Listen and enjoy the show for yourself.
