Alice and Phil get ready to drive to the band rehearsal. Phil isn’t impressed by her driving skills.
When Phil tries to take control over the band, but that crazy, unruly harpist gets him everytime. Even Frankie gives him a hard time, imagine that. Still, Phil manages to sing, Bill Jackson in the Dark Town Poker Club.
Willie has been getting under Phil’s skin, so he and Frankie try to figure how to get rid of him. The sponsor’s rep visits, and Frankie speaks his mind about things. Phil does some buttering up, and in the corse of events, sees the chance to get Willie a job that will mean a move far away. Alice breaks out into song with, You Were Meant for Me.
Just when Phil is exulting over his plan to get rid of Willie, he learns a few details that have backfired on him to work to keep Willie around.
