Back to Manila harbor, and our heroes return safely to the Spindrift. Is there any chance that Chepeto or his henchmen have ransacked the schooner to steal their ring or maps>? Uncle Jim is confident he hid their valuables in a place where no one can find them?>. It looks like prowlers have just boarded the Spindrift, and the gang makes plans to surprise their crooks.
Searchlights scan the harbor, but uncle Jim takes over rowing while the kids hide on the floor of the tiny skiff. As they approach, uncle Jim reminds The kids that the Spindrift is to be drydocked in the morning for maintenance. The plan is to take time to explore more in the interior of the jungles.
As they slowly approach the ship, they discuss the value of the uranium. Is their concern founded that Chepeto has instruments that might detect radiation of either the uranium or the luminous ring? Our heroes are positioned to board their ship and need to discover what the crooks are doing inside by peeking into the portholes.
