An innkeeper and his wife are under pressure by Roman soldiers. It seems that the nephew of Matthew and Sarah is a known zealot who is out to strike back against Roman oppression. The youth doesn’t care who he hurts, as long as he gets his licks in to show his hatred for the current political situation.
Just then, a pair of weary travelers arrive. A carpenter and his wife. Not wanting to involve them in their personal lives, Matthew lets Joseph stay in his stable where Mary later gives birth to her son. The nephew makes a hasty departure as Romans return and make it known they aren’t leaving until the nephew is caught.
Suddenly, shepherds arrive at the inn, and tell about their supernatural encounter in the field. They go to see the child for themselves. Meanwhile the nephew is back to make demands that his uncle should support him. But how can he?the youth whines when he sees his only path in life is to do what he’s so zealous to do,
With all these lives seemingly coming together on a crossroads. Joseph, Mary, the innkeeper, and even shepherds and Roman soldiers. What crossroad is the nephew on? Young Barabas will have to find out later, as he sneaks off into the night, with the departing shepherds.
