Rush enters to tell Vic and Sade what he has been up to. He was hanging out at the soda fountain where Smelly Clark was treating everyone to Cherry phosphates. How could he afford them to be so generous? It’s a windfall that has Rush thrilled, but his parents are less so. Rush tells how his buddy came across a barrel of cherry syrup for making the drinks, and sold it to the soda counter.
His calculations as to how many free drinks that represents pushes Sade to the point of thinking Rush is being rude to her, but he’s just trying to prove how big a deal this is. Vic helps to crunch the numbers for the impressive feat.
