Get ready to set sail! The Scarlet Queen pulls into port at Hong Kong, but today’s adventure is the tale of yet another delay along the voyage. Ship master Philip Carney is intercepted by a fair maiden who promptly escorts him to her hotel room. The woman is frightened and nearly collapses once the safety of her room is reached. She tells Carney a little about the men he saw following them, and the death threat to her husband. How might Philip be able to help this damsel in distress?
Philip hasn’t exactly had the best of luck with women in his adventures thus far, but he feels that this one is being earnest. Carney takes the woman and together they make their get away, losing their pursuers along the way in the crowded traffic. Philip calls in a favor from a longtime friend to hide the woman. With the initial adventure out of the way, names are finally exchanged when Philip and Henrietta introduce themselves.
How long will the pressure stay offf? Henrietta tells about her past, and how she came to be living in Asia, and her missing husband. Philip shares about his only true love, a woman who closely resembles Henrietta, the carved wooden masthead of the Scarlet Queen. Feeling relatively safe, Carney and Henrietta spend some leisurely time together, but their reverie is spoiled when they return to find their rooms ransacked, and the man who followed them has caught up with them. Who is this man named Neal, and what secrets does he want kept quiet?
Neal claims that Henrietta’s husband is dead, and he wants to know where the jewels are. Carney has stood all he can but he can’t stand anymore. Seeing his chance, Philip attacks. It appears that neal has underestimated the swashbuckling Philip Carney, but as he and Harriet recover from their ordeal, they prepare for another when a hulking figure approaches.
It’s just Gallagher, but he’s worried about his captain being in deep trouble. Carney has himself in another mess, but at least his is an easy way out. All he needs to do is board the Scarlet Queen and set sail. But what about Henrietta? Has Carney fallen for her? Will she be safe once he leaves?
Is Carney actually falling for Henrietta? The possibility is raised, but will he actually consider staying in Hong Kong and helping her through her troubles? He offers her the chance to sail with the Scarlet Queen, but time is short. As the clock ticks by, it appears that Carney will abandon his new love afterall, but not without calling the cops to alert them of the threats of the jewel thieves, and enacting a plan to throw them off Henriettas trail.
