Featuring Sidney Greenstreet.
A lawyer tells a tale of a crime where neither the defense or prosecution had it right. Though the date with the hangman is near, the young woman may still face the judgement for murder. She rouses from amnesia in her cold, damp prison cell, thinking its should still be the dry sunny days of August. Is it too late for her testimony to be heard? Does anyone believe her story of amnesia?
Continuing his narrative, the lawyer tells that the prison warden thinks she ought to just stop pretending amnesia and just confess. It’ll sit better on his conscience to know a guilty person is being put to death. Various elements of the case are brought out, and highlights of the murder are shared. Who is the stranger hanging around outside the prison?
Too bad we never find out what happened, but all the clues, and foreshadowing events are there. Why not leave a comment and let me know how you think this mystery plays out?
