Judy and Randolph are on a radio program and share their dream careers with the announcer. At home Judy demands that mother stop her chores to listen to her, and offer advice. A phone call from an old flame distracts mother, but is her rendezvou what Judy thinks it is? A secret get away, a packed suitcase, and mother is missing.
Doubts are raised, or at least with Judy. Randolph thinks she’s going overboard. They visit father in his office to break the drama to him. Why isn’t he as concerned as Judy? The 16 year old drama queen is persistent, and manages to get father worked up enough to go against his instinct in trusting his bride.
When the family get home, sure enough there’s no sign of mother. Should the family bee worried that mother has eloped or something? What kind of announcements do you send out to people for an elopement? Will Judy have to take over running the house for mother?
Rumor mills grind, and mother returns to demand an explanation over the elopement announcement, but has some explaining of her own. She has to let her surprise for the family out of the bag.
