When a girl breaks her mirror, she learns the saga of how the superstition came to be. It dates to ancient Egypt, and a bride who was to marry an up and coming courtier. The problem was that he loved another, and upon hearing of her broken mirror, he played on the many superstitions and gods to claim she is a witch who shares state secrets.
The unfortunate circumstance, and lies cause the father in law to be to keel over, dead. This is taken as proof of the demonic dealings of the bride, and she is banished for seven years. The young liar gets his job, and the girl he wanted.
So, how does our modern day girl feel about the superstition? Does the matter of being a contrived event make a difference?
