There’s also some issue with proper appearance in military attire.
When the chance to promote someone arises the choice is between the unruly Scotsman, Frasier, and Lance Corporal Jones. Does the unit need the youth and fighting nature of Frasier, or or the mature, compliant ways of the brown nosing Jones? The rivals get caught up in a battle of seeing who can write up the most people, including bringing charges on each other.
With all the disciplinary charges flying from the minor to the treasonous, Captain Mainwaring has it in his authority to throw out the hastily made accusations. In doing so, he Manages to opt for the safe choice for the new promotion.
