The cast all get together to go on a safari to hunt deer. Alan Reed is the game warden, and tells Lou that a mountain lion is on the loose. After more animal jokes, Lou faces the lion in a cave, but some how Lou and the lion manage to make friends. The big finale includes songs and even more jokes about animals.
An early version of their famous routine, Who’s on First? And is the likely date that I list. What follows is from a show that ran a few years later , probably sometime after 1946, because that was when Skinny Ennis and Marilyn Maxwell joined the show. Bud and Lou talk about hunting, and animals.
At the early date of the opening routine, Abbott and Costello didn’t have their own radio show yet, and hadn’t made their first film appearance yet. They were regulars on the Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy show after being successful in Burlesque. This recording is likely from their time on the Bergen and McCarthy show.
