Harry Vonzel and Fred Allen have their jokes interrupted by bandleader, Peter Vanstetin. It’s his 5 year anniversary on the show, and he thinks Fred should honor the milestone the same as Jack Benny does with his staff. Promises are made to do it later, but for now it’s time for the news of the week, and interviewing the man on the street. Learn the problem with loan sharks, and how they take more than interest on their loans. Even a young lady needing a permanent fell prey to a loan shark. Yet another man found out that fast, easy money comes with steep interest, and fees, to leave nothing to show for it.
Portland Hoffa joins Fred to poke fun at Jack Benny, and his latest film, Buck Benny Ridees again. Will Fred honor his bandleader yet? Portland reads a poem she wrote for the occasion. Stanley is a guest who tells about his business in creating fashion apparel for dogs.
A roundtable discussion finds Fred learning about salesmen, a lady who invented a cover make up for scars, burns, or other blemishes. His final guest is a local physical trainer. In what form do you most prefer a good story? In a book, over radio, or movies.
Finally, Peter gets his salute as Fred dramatizes his life. Highlights feature a curse of the foot that follows Peter all his life. As a baby he was a foot long. As a child and through school, the jokes about a foot continue. Even his college years had the mark of a foot on them. Finally, the foot determines his adult career.
