Something about the appearance of the stately gent suggests a demeanor of a gentleman’s gentleman. Possibly of the master of the estate himself. He ensures his vault, and security system is in place, and prepares to head out to a meeting.
Hidden behind a velvet mask, with a number, all the attendees are equally anonymous. Clad in evening dress, the master, number 1, calls attention to a breakdown in the ranks. For now, partners pair up and dance. But soon the traitor is outed, and his fate is sealed.
The secret society is turned on its ear, when identities of the anonymous members is threatened to be exposed. Number 21, the traitor, surprises everyone when his true identity is a lord who was thought dead. What else does he have up his sleeve? With the society falling apart, his preparations mean that he’s in control of the fate of his would bee executioners.
