The whole gang is gathered for a rehearsal in Jack’s library. Dennis is taken aback at the formal proceedings in the meeting that seem to have developed during his absence in the Navy. Is the formality of the rehearsal too much for the rest of the cast? Rochester brings in the snacks, but that cash register bell keeps interrupting the rehearsal, and directions from Jack. Muffed lines get bigger laughs than the scripted ones, especially when Jack rolls with the flow to recover from them. Polly gives Jack a hard time as the sponsor message is presented.
Dennis sings, What It Means to Me. When Rochester helps Jack get ready for bed, he decides to relax with a book from his library, if only he could settle on a title. Jack picks, I Stand Condemned, a story of the fickle finger of fate. Jack is in jail, where Frank Nelson is the warden. As he faces the electric chair, Jack goes into flashback mode to tell his story.
Peter Lorrie makes an appearance and tries to steal Jack’s cigarette lighter. Instead, Jack sells his clothes for huge amounts of cash. What’s that all about? We look in at Jack’s house where Mary, and his two boys get ready for school. Why is Peter Lorrie living with them? The stranger causes Jack to become wealthy, but he loses his wife and kids in the process. Jack realizes the secret, and kills his strange visitor at being duped into a counterfeit scam. Just what are his three sons names anyway? It depends on the gag.
