Looking in on the gents, we find Abnder and Sqjuire on the tgtrain to Fort Smith, and the war bond rally. The shared accomodations on the train mean they need to take turns sitting down. As Squire occupies the seat, Abner digs through his valise for his lunch.
LeavingSquire inconvenienced, with the unpacked food, Abner explores the train, and comments on the sights to a fellow passenger. The disgruntled man isn’t in the mood to listen to Abner’s chatter.
Trying to pass time, Abner sings to himself. His friendly offers of food, and cheerful conversation just aren’t enough to get more than terse answers from his new travelling companion. Returning to sit with Squire, they might lose their seating, maybe.
