Today George gets a letter to ask for help by a collector of various odds and ends. The man is a little creepy, but gets into a fight over his collection. The case leads George on a trail that involves a blackmail and a suicide as it’s result.
The cops confront George with charges of breaking and entering, and others while carrying out his job in the investigation. His snappy chatter with the cops gets him off the hook for now.
He and Brooksie keep digging into the situation. The distraught husband of the dead woman drinks himself silly, to try to wash away his grief. George has to play it hard to set up a trap to catch his suspect.
George has a close brush with danger when he uncovers a sore nerve. All the puzzle pieces are now there, but can George fit them all together? With the cops on the way, George puts on the pressure to get a confession, but will he?
With all the characters gathered together, George works out the chain of events, and figures out what really happened. He explains all the twists of the plot, and the surprise ending.
