Excuses pile up as the clock ticks. Nothing will stop Lum from making that return phone call. Not even trying to tell Abner all his philosophies on life, or constantly asking for time checks. Conveniently delaying his calls, or timing them before the good professor arrives at his next known destination, Lum avoids his duty for a little longer.
Lum’s gallant efforts to phone where professor Sloane is not, almost ruins his plans. An accidental connection brings an end to the phone tag, and good news for Lum.
