The balding, 45 year old Milton Strong plans to ask for a raise, but his boss has other plans. He’s being retired. Is that such a bad thing? He now has to go home to his nagging wife, and try to explain his job situation to her. How can he explain that he has been retired, not given a raise?
To deal with his troubles, Milton decides to get away and travel as far as he can get from his woes. Arriving out West, he looks into investing money into a mine. It’s a good deal, until a corpse shows up. Will it wreck Milton’s plan, or be the ticket to a new identity, and a new life?
Things go wrong when the mine owner and his wife take advantage of the stranger, now known as Jacobs, and a blackmail scheme is hatched. Matters get worse when the real Jacobs turns out to be a robber, murderer, and wanted by the cops.
Can Milton explain? Will he resort to murder to get away again? He has to return home and face his wife, his boss, and the consequences of his actions. Instead, the Whistler holds a few plot twists designed to bring a positive ending for Milton.
