In our last installment, the bathosphere with gold onboard had been rescued. As professor Thorp is about to show Captain Maddox the treasure, pirate Escobar, and henchman Carlos lurk near by. The pirates steal the gold, and get away.
With the injuries of Captain Maddox and the professor, the decision is made to head for safety, and medical attention. Elsewhere, Jimmy Olsen is caught stowing away on a plane when another reporter, Bill Wentworth is sent to Manilla Bay to follow up on Clarks progress. To get underway, they go to hire a boat from Pete Escobar to take them to find the Juanita.
The first encounter is enough to set the reporter, and Jimmy on edge, and they back down. Is it too late though? The pirates set out after them in a chase.
