Dan Reed is on a stage coach trip, and a fellow traveller tells about his distinctive ring with a family crest, and slogan. As fate would have it, the stage is robbed, and the bandits makes off with loot including the ring. Dan Takes it upon himself to follow the outlaws to their hideout. Though he is caught, one of the outlaws has sympathy on him, and unwittingly helps Dan when he takes a message that notifies the robbed man, and the Lone Ranger where he is being held.
It’s a story to enforce the idea that no good deed goes unrewarded, and even the helpful bandit gets some relief from his crimes, thanks to his good deed.
