Dr William Richter is hard at work in his laboratory. A breakthrough in preserving living tissue has been made. What will this mean for humanity, and those suffering from a severed limb? As a distraction, his daughter enters to announce her engagement. Richter is against it, but is it only because of the thought of losing his girl to another?
On the twisting road away from the laboratory, John and Elaine discuss their future, when the amorous lab assistant, John loses control of the car. Time passes as Elaine is in a coma. Richter finally gives his permission to marry when Elaine comes out of her coma. Has the old doc come to his senses and learned to like John? The doc himself has been the surgeon who has brought both John and Elaine back to health, and he implies that he feels that John doesn’t have as good a chance to live.
More operations, with questionable outcomes are in store. But only the doctor knows the real purpose behind the surgeries, and comatose conditions. What makes him so certain that Elaine will recover?
