Looking in at the Nelson home, Ozzie enjoys the newspaper after dinner. The comics are the most important part, of course. As he jokes with his lovely bride, Harriet, they talk about Hollywood night life, and the stars who frequent the nightclubs. Ozzie begins to imagine himself as one of the leading men in Tinsel Town. On the back page, a writing contest sparks an idea for Ozzie. What is glamour, and what part does it play in the culture of the day? Deciding to step out on the town, the Nelson’s get dressed up to experience glamour firsthand.
After securing some babysitting time with Gloria the maid, the Nelsons dress up a song with added styling, Don’t Sweetheart Me. The busy club scene means a long walk to a table. Trouble with waiters, drunks, and its time for some time on the dance floor.
When the head waiter realizes he has a famous orchestra leader, and his wife in the club, he tries to make it right. They sing for their supper with their own flavor of, Dancing with the Mama with the Moolah. But how will the research on writing the glamorous article work out? Ozzie submits his work, and hangs out with Harriet while he gets the result in the mail.
Note: Learn what Ozzie’s middle name is, and did he really use it as a stage name at one time? Also, in these early episodes, there was neither their real sons, or the child actors who would portray them in the shows.
