There are more interests in the life of a high school teacher than just teaching. Today, we find Connie Brooks discussing the hats her land lady, Mrs Davis ued to make. Connie makes a joke about giving someone the bird, as she learns about bringing back the hat business. Walter Denton, the stomach on feet, enters for his second breakfast. Will he sprin for a new hat for his mom?
At school, the slow talking Tex Barton offers his style of rural color in telling about his mother’s day gift. He still gets roped in for one of Connie’s hats. Harriet Conklin discusses with her dad, the school principal, about their special gift for mom. How will they react to Connie’s milinary creation? Connie’s forceful persuasion ensures yet another sale.
Time for the bashful biologist, Mr Boynton to notice Connie’s hat she has been using for her sample. His mother is coming to town, and he tells about the mad whirl of activity he has planned. He’ll buy the hat, as long as it’s a unique creation.
At home, Mrs Davis reviews the sales, and we learn of a possible problem between hat orders for the Conklins and Boyntons. The jittery Connnie usuallly lives for extraquality time with Mr Boynton, so why is she overly eager to send him and his mom away? Will she be able to deliver on her hat sales, and keep her customers separated? if all the hats are unique, why are they all alike?
