Phinus joins Abner in the store for a little chit chat. Is there something in particular bothering the ancient old gent? Is it high times he passed on the wisdom of his life, and given his boy that talk? Well, at least a word of warning about the stranger in town, Mr Webster.
Everybody in town is buzzing about the findings in grandpap’s mineral springs, but old Phinus just doesn’t like the situation. As he rushes off, Lum arrives to ask a favor. He needs to run an important errand to the county seat. He also wants to ask Abner if he can draw on their shared savings account. Will it be squandering it, or a million dollar investment?
Today, its Abner’s turn to confuse Lum, as he repeats his poppa’s advice about not trusting the cut of Webster’s jaw. The worries over the investment take a back seat as Abner sets out on his delivery run. Phinus returns, and shares his thoughts with Lum. Has he changed his mind on the investment? Has Lum flip flopped on his stance?
