With the need to get the family rounded up, and out the door for a special occasion, Jim Anderson gets nothing but frustrations. His boss expects to be picked up on time for a tennis match, when the comedy of errors explode. Bud can’t find clothes, Margret takes care of kitchen needs, and combing her hair. Betty and Kathy are ready, but their bickering heats up the frustration level.
As delays build, the further from departure time the Andersons get. Yelling through the house, the tide seems to turn, but now that Bud is ready, the girls aren’t. Wardrobe changes, fashion statements, and why do girls wear gloves when its hot outside? Kathy gets the idea its to keep from washing their hands. Hey, if she got gloves that were big enough, she’d never have to wash again.
Suddenly, the family is all set. Are the windows and doors all locked? One last phone call from the boss means that Jim has to run back inside. It also means he just locked his car keys in the house as he rejoins the family.
Think it can’t get worse? Should Jim just break a window to get back inside? Maybe Kathy can wiggle in the milk door… or maybe not. Will the phone stop ringing? Will the Andersons turn down friendly help from the neighbor? Will mom need to take matters into her own hands? Did someone forget something important other than their car keys?
