Shorty and Blackie find a body of what appears to be a drowned man who committed suicide. It’s never as simple as that in the world of Boston Blackie.
Before Blackie has time to put some distance between himself and the situation, a cop happens by, and he is soon on the carpet in Farraday’s office. Farraday has a one track mind where Blackie is concerned, and wants to pin the murder on him. Blackie has a handle on how the murder might have went down, but he’s faced with who could have did it. All he needs is some time to track down the clues, as soon as he makes his escape from Farraday.
Blackie is off to interview the wife of the dead man. There’s plenty of motive when a life insurance plan is discovered to be part of the picture. She does a good job of acting innocent, but I bet she either did it, or had someone do the deed for her.
Blackie keeps up his quest for the truth in what happened, but may be in danger from more than just being caught by the cops. Besides figuring out which of the players in the story may be guilty, the wife, the insurance agent, or someone else, the question remains of how exactly the man died.
How did Blackie become clued in on the phony set up? He tells all at the end of the show.
