The stranger in town, BJ Webster, has Abner buzzing to grandpap about the big business that has come to town. He tells how Lum raced out to join the business meeting at the boarding house. Only to be let down, when all BJ wanted him for was that old barber chair.
Humiliated, Lum hasn’t even returned to show his face in town. Nobody seems to really know the kind of business that BJ is in. Grandpap thinks it has to do with real estate. BJ had been to his place, asking about the springs on his place.
Finally Lum drags in, but doesn’t want to reveal what his big conference was about, even though Abner already knows. Both grandpap and Abner do their best to subtly rub salt into Lum’s injured pride. How long will it take for Lum to realize his pals have been playing with him?
