It took the whole tribe to catch them, but Jingles worries what the Indians will do with them now that he and Bill are tied up, and held captive. They watch as the medicine man leads the council in a pow wow. Little Cloud sneaks through the darkness to set Bill free, after a favor was done for his father years ago. His kindness may have cost him his life, as Bill and Jingles escapes.
Racing through the night, Bill and Jingles live to see daylight, led by their young guide, Big Bear. Time to clear up some of their mystery.
Eagles, totem poles, and a chief named Putonka. He would have made friends with the white man, but others around him were misled by gun runners. What’s the power of the mark of the claw? Will it be the good medicine to settle the braves who are on the war path? Confronting the gun runners who sell guns to all sides, Bill gets the upper hand with a quick fist fight. The thing to do is return to the Indians who held them captive, to try to talk sense to them.
Danger explodes, but more for the gun runners. What will happen if the Indians get a hold of him? Would it be better than being turned over to the law? As justice is dealt, Jingles leads in getting the drums started for a victory dance.
