Caught red handed, Lum and Abner are approached by the farmer, but he doesn’t seem concerned over the hole on his land. He even seems to encourage them in striking it rich.
Does the kindly farmer know about the buried treasure? if so, why hasn’t he dug it up himself? Abner worries the farmer may try to lay claim on their treasure.
The gents speculate on what kind of treasure will be in the treasure chest, and Abner gets confused over what pieces of eight are? Some kind of pie? The farmer returns to clear up a matter of confusion about what the hole on his land is intended.
