Though he’s feeling energetic, Jim isn’t feeling quite energetic enough to fix the roof. With Cathy tugging at his attention to hear what she learned at school, he doesn’t have much of a chance to either read the paper, or do any home repair.
Mom, and household safety win the day, which means Bud is recruited to help Jim. Meanwhile, Cathy keeps up her campaign for higher allowance. With nothing more to do with the roof, Jim turns to a job he has put off to the last moment, a topic of preaching to the kids regarding their procrastination.
Buckling down to grind out tax forms in the remaining few hours to the deadline, Jim reads the baffling instructions on the tax form. Naturally, family distractions creep up on him to frustrate, and bring on the pressure. As Jim whines over missing information, and missing pieces of paper, Margret mobilizes the kids to clean up Jim’s desk.
