Lum’s barber shop is going nowhere, and even his promotions drive customers away. Today, grandpap enters to stretch out in the barber chair. He tells about a friend who moved to Canada long ago, and grandpap was just dreaming of him. How’s he been doing? How’s he look? Grandpap claims that old Hillary looks as good as he ever did.
As Abner takes an order over the phone, grandpap dozes, and Lum enters. Lum is ready to give up on barbering… if only he could get one customer to prove how well he can do this haircutting thing. Hey, doesn’t it look sort of like grandpap needs a shave?
Abner is against it, but he helps put on some hot water for the towels. Lum snips away on his sleeping victim… um, makes that customer. The beard is repaired by trimming here, snipping there. Do you think grandpap would look better in a goatee? Did you know grandpap had a dimple in his chin? Who’s going to hang around to tell him how good he looks once he wakes up?
