Francis joins Bob to talk about their trip to the air basest jokes about wrinkles get flubbed. Despite the flubs, the laughs are big. Bob tells about his big reception to the base. Mary Jane Kroft joins the jokes to joke about the soldiers. Muscles, marching, dating, and more mixed up lines. The girls tell secrets on Skinny Ennis, his dates, and trying to jump from airplanes. Bob thinks he could make it in the military, if he had the right job. Skinny Ennis plays, Take the A Train.
As a stuffy, upscale type, Bob is Reginald, and gets dressed with the help of his valet. Francis Langford arrives to learn of his deep desire to become a 2nd Lieutenant. How will he fit into the lowly pay scale, and mundane routine? Packing all his necessities, Bob sets out.
On the tough side of the tracks, Bob plays Herman, and with Mary Jane Kroft as his girlfriend, he gets ready to respond to the draft. Topics of family in jail, shortages of rubber, and army haircuts, and more. Other family members have gone into various branches of service, and Bob tells about their jobs. Verna Felton makes an appearance to give Bob some motherly advice. Skinny Ennis is joined by the Six Hits and a Miss to sing, I’m Off To Yokahama.
In another chapter in the Life of Bob Hope, we follow the young life of Bob from birth. The nearly spoiled Bob makes it to school, the boy scouts, and makes it to his high school prom. Now in the Army with Skinny Ennis at March Field, Bob leaves off his dreams with beautiful starlets. Jerry Kolonna joins the fun with jokes about army life, and peeling potatoes. Marching, tough sergeants, discipline, the shooting range, becoming a pilot, and more. Francis administers an aptitude test, and acts as nurse to see if the guys qualify to become pilots. Will doctor Kolonna’s mental and medical exam get the guys in?
