Turning the clock back to the day before, Phil and Frankie anticipate the big football game. Phil tells tales of his athletic prowess to impress the girls of his younger days. Phil’s bravado spills over to Frankie and Alice as the girls go to the corner for a beer… huh? A root beer, of course. Doing him a favor, Alice buys Phil a television set so he won’t have to go to the game, then she sings, Why Fight the Feeling?
Instead of the big, 21 inch screen set, Willie comes home with a second hand portable TV. If they can’t go to the stadium, and the tiny set is no good, what are the guys to do? Frankie knows a guy. Grogan has all manner of appliances, some hot, some not, and some… well, let’s just say out of date. Phil sings, You Can’t Go Wrong Doing Right.
Determined to save money, and build his own television, Phil has the family piece together a hobby kit. Will they do better with fewer helpers in the mix? There’s only an hour left before the game. Julius is on hand to marvel at the home made TV.
In epilog, Phil announces his appearance on the Lux Radio Theater with Ann Baxter in You’re My Everything. It aired the next day, November 27. Sometimes this show is listed as the Lady Wrestler, this is the correct date for this episode. Clearly, it has nothing to do with lady wrestlers.
