Agreeing to help Judge Hooker win the hand of the new Spanish dance teacher, Gildy pokes a little fun at his friend. A reception is planned to invite their friends, and welcome Delores Del Rey to town. Leila Ransom is thrilled at the idea of a party, but not so much at the thought of Miss Del Rey. Gildy extends a personal invitation to Eve Goodwin as well, but she seems just as jealous when it comes to the sultry Miss Del
Rey.
The guest list is thinning, but will it whittle down more when Gildy talks to Peavey? The married druggist checks with his wife while Gildy is introduced to Peavey’s new song bird. Peavy hates to let down a friend, but he has his own troubles at the moment.
Meanwhile, the judge has gone about inviting his own guests, especially someone that is well placed and could help launch the new dance school well.
Later, the party buffet has been laid out, and Leroy eyes it longingly. For some reason, most of the womenfolk in town have an excuse not to attend, including Marjorie. Is Miss Del Rey really so bad? The judge’s high placed friend shows up, Floyd and his wife show up to bring the level of class down closer to the common man. Will the disparity of class and culture be too broad for a successful party? Will Delores be guided to the one who is secretly in love with her?
