Homicide detail. A baby has been abducted from a nursery, your job… find the kidnapper.
On a rainy night, Joe Friday and Ben Romero arrive at the hospital. The 3 day old twin is discovered missing, to the surprise of hospital staff. What distracted the nurse? Where are the entrances to the ward? Might a staff member taken the baby to be examined? Had all the visitors left the building yet?
In voiceover, Joe goes over the possibilities of why the baby might be missing, and describes he direction of the investigation. . The Striker family has been notified, and Mr Striker is briefed on how to handle a request for a ransom. Radio broadcasts go out, phone leads come in. A hotel clerk reports a woman with a baby has checked in. Joe finds an empty room, and evidence links the baby with thehospital.
The search for the baby continues, along with the mysterious Mrs Parker. Canvassing the area, all the local hotels are alerted to her description. Clues lead to Mr Salizar, whose wife is said to have just returned from Phoenix after having her baby.
A confrontation with Mrs Salizar breaks down her story, and the facts of forensics proves the child is the missing twin. Still, it leaves the question of… why?
