Lou is excited when he gets a telegram from his home town of Patterson, New Jersey. He is to be honored in the upcoming school play.
Being impressed with his achievement, Bud and Lou joke about school related topics before going to catch the train. The jokes turn to things related to trains, and traveling. Lou is particularly confused about upper and lower berths.

The school and education jokes return once the guys get to Lou’s old school. Lou visits his old teacher who mistakes him for still being a student. Bud and Lou try to find where the play is being rehearsed, but find Mr Kitzel instead.
Kitzel is the play director, and Lou’s little brother Sebastian makes a quick appearance.

The play is about to go on. Sebastian is going to go on stage to substitute for Lou, and tells Bud about his plan. The audio cuts off abruptly as the curtain goes up.
