Yesterday, the trial came to a dramatic close. Today, Abner and grandpap talk about how Lum might have figured out how he won the case. With his success, Lum’s head is just full of wonderful ideas.
When he enters, Lum tells how he has committed himself to be a lawyer. Has he been wasting his time in the store business? If he calls his practice Edwards, Edwards, and Edwards, Abner wants to know who those other two Edwards are. Lum explains how he made the connection between Squires real gun shot wound, and the faked x-ray he used in court.
His investigating turned up swapped x-rays with a character from Squire’s old circus friends. A phone call from Mrs Philips becomes Lum’s first case. Damages from a horse who got loose, and tore up her property. He soon learns from Cedric, it was his own horse.
