Preparing for a loss in court, Lum goes over the books for the movie theater. Do they have enough to pay the $1000 they may need to settle with Squire? The figures are confusing. Either they’re in the red for $300, or in the black for $300.
Grandpap enters, and while Abner goes to check the mail, he complains that Abner ought to be bored for the simples. He seems to have forgot his own part in encouraging Abner to break into Squire’s.
