In clearing off his desk, Doc Hall comes across a note he wrote, but can’t remember why he wrote it. Taking time for a hair cut, Toddy gets an ear full of the campus gossip. Wellman comes to Doc Hall about the scandal going round about the new teacher, Mr Huntley. A solution is sought that will clear Huntley, and confound Wellman.
The matter of the alleged affair between teacher and student is addressed. Nipping any perceived romance in the bud is all that can be done for now to let the fires of gossip run their course, and die down. The question is how fast they’ll die down.
More gossip fires need stomping out, and Toddy goes to shed the light of truth where he can. Regardless of which side one is on, handling matters with tact seems to be the key in squashing such things. Shows of responsibility, and proper actions are called for.
