A poor family finds happiness in the teachings of the Master. When an overbearing grandfather arrives to criticize their humble estate, the lessons to respond in love are put to the test. Is it a lack of love that the young family can’t provide better for their son? Giving in to the grandfather, mother sacrifices and allows her son to live with the stern old man.
Will young Abner learn from traveling with his grandfather? Will Abner have his own lessons to teach about excesses, and giving to help the poor? The acts that the grandfather saw as generous, soon turn against him. People think he has abducted the boy. Can he prove they are related to keep from having charges brought against him?
Certain the boy will do what it takes to be returned to his mother, the grandfather fears having him testify. Abner proves the Master’s teaching to return a kindness, even if means he’ll still have to go home with his grandfather. Grandfather learns there more ways to be successful than what it takes to live a comfortable life, outside poverty.
