Sade sews as Russell reads to Vic from his 3rd Lt Stanley book. Stirring adventures of romance with Lady Margret, and the swashbuckling hero who shoots the heads off snakes that attack. At the same time, Vic has news about his friend Hank Gutstop. The latest scheme to repay his debts to Vic is to work it off around the house.
Will Sade go for the plan? It’s a logical choice to win back some of the debts that hank owes to Vic. The small loans of quarters or ddollars here and there have totaled up to $20. As Sade puts it, enough to buy groceries for a month. What does that amount to in modern dollars? Certainly a few hundred dollars I’m sure.
The problem is up to Sade. Is her desire to be repaid going to outweigh her hatred towards hank? At the rate the chores will be paid back, it’s going to take a year of having Hank hanging around. He’s even planning to do the work at odd hours, or the wee hours of the morning, just to keep from clashing with Sade. Creepy, or considerate?
To help ease the tension, Russell pops back in with another passage from 3rd Lt Stanley.
