As the sun sets over the little town, a dusty traveller arrives, seeking just a little cool water to drink. . There isn’t much, and citizens are in unrest due to bandits, but the meager meal is shared. Roman soldiers enter. Will there be trouble with the stranger, or any followers of the Master?
Though the young couple are timid, they’re eager to hear of a teaching from the Master. What kind of courage can the meek man muster in the face of the Roman might? The stranger is the disciple, John, and he teaches them to pray for enemies, despite threat of persecution.
In the morning, word comes the bandits have been rounded up. This is good, right? Will there be bloodshed? Women and children have been rounded up as well, but is it right to treat them badly? Overcoming the peer pressure of his townsfolk, and the strong-arm of the Roman’s Simon does the right thing and discovers his own kind of bravery and courage.
